Karen Wanjiru Kimani started her environmental conservation work at the age of 5 years out of passion. She has just turned 10 years this week. She is in grade 4 at Harvest View Academy where she is the youngest CS for Environment. She also models mainly for the environment. Her passion to fight for the environment grew when her monologue on the dangers of plastic pollution won me the eco project silver award in Ternarife, Spain in 2019. She has a plastic recycling club with 27 members that collects and recycles plastics in schools and towns. Karen has several titles under my name including, Winner Best eco project in Little Mr &Miss Kenya 2018, International Brand Ambassador African forest 2022 and Runners up MTM Environmental Excellence Awards, UK 2022 among many. She is also a member of Global Young Greens.
She has a special passion in tree growing and believes trees contribute greatly to clean environment. She established a 30 thousand capacity tree nursery with the help of her parents and NETFUND so as to support her passion. To-date, Karen has planted over 10 thousand tree seedlings across Kenya in partnership with Team Environment Kenya.
Due to her conservation efforts at my tender age, she was accredited by UNFCCC to attend the just concluded Cop27. Karen was the youngest delegate in the history of COPs to ever attend the summit. Moving forward from Cop27, she will be starting my own biodegradable bottles factory and also has plans to get more land to expand her tree nursery to grow even more trees.
Karen is currently in United Kingdom having attended the MTM Environmental Excellence Awards Ceremony in Bristol and was the youngest nominee in the award worldwide for my conservation work.
