Prof. Margaret Jesang Hutchinson

Professor Margaret Jesang Hutchinson is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Enterprise) and a Full Professor of Horticulture and Immediate former Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance, Planning and Development) at the University of Nairobi. She has over 40 years of experience in the Agriculture/Horticulture sector.  She obtained her PhD in Horticulture from the University of Guelph in Canada and MSc. Agronomy and BSc. Agriculture from the University of Nairobi. Prof Hutchinson conducts research and outreach to diverse stakeholders and is a strong scientist in horticultural value chains. She is widely published and has supervised students at PhD, MSc and undergraduate levels of education.

She has provided consultancy services and facilitated training with several organizations in the Great Horn of Africa in several aspects of Agriculture and continental transformation agenda. She is a member of several professional and social networks and has provided leadership in several areas and institutions at various levels of governance, including but not limited to the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP).
