Africa’s Demographic Dividend and Peril

It is estimated that four billion people which is 36% of the world’s population could live in this region by 2100. Africa alone is projected to have over 840 million youth by 2050. However, by 2025, it will already have the largest and youngest workforce in the world. This festival seeks to highlight the enormous consequences and risks posed if this population is not provided for. Consequently, the opportunities Africa presents through the innovations, investments in health, education, housing, and infrastructure, and ideas that could turn it all into the vehicle that makes this the African century are not actualized.
